An MRI scanner has a hugh electromagnetic field when it is running. The object in Scott's eye is a steel bomb fragment which has ferrious properties (i.e., its magnetic). As such when the MRI scanner was turned on with Scott inside it, that ferrous particle would have been ripped out of his eye by the EMF.

Umm, red, that is exactly how rail guns work. A ferrous material with a magnetic field is suspended between two or more electo-magnetic rails.
This shell usually has a titanium internal structure (mass at hypervelocity is not important since the whole purpose of using a hypervelocity shell is to create a plasma creating wave of energy in line with the force vector of impact.) which has a very high melting point and the potential for a more leathal plasma creating energy wave.
The ferrous outer coating is equally repelled and held in a frictionless state between the electromagnetic accellerators of the rail gun. While not AS volatile as magnesium, pure titanium DOES ignite and burn much the same. Thats why special precautions need to be taken when machining the stuff... ALL of them with the goal of keeping it cool enough to not combust into a nearly uncontrollable fire that burns hot enough to melt steel as if it were butter.
Titanium is also non-ferrous meaning it contains NO iron and thus is NOT magnetic.

Sooo exciting! Finally, a confrontation with a monster girl. Its been a while since he started off on the wrong foot. Not since the Ferrous Brachyura if I recall correctly.
