Quick google search shows us that even if she can control the temperature of her fire and achieve blue flame, its temperature range would be between 1400-1650°C, while plasma on the other hand would create temperatures anywhere from 5700-9700°C. Depending on the rock, one would need temperatures ranging from 600-1000°C to melt it which means they can both melt it without much trouble.

I see your point about plasma. But consider this. That plasma has to be contained where a shell doesn't. While that seems like a silly point: consider this....
When a shell hits a hard target, like titanium based shielding on a ship, the speed at which it is moving through the shield creates such a heat wave due to friction that the shield itself becomes plasma that is blown into the ship as the round continues to penetrate.
So, effectively, the shells are a combination mass/plasma weapon already.
